About this Item
Appointment of Terence Vincent Brenan as Consul to Bulgaria, printed on vellum and signed, George R. I. with the stamped royal crest below. This royal appointment was made in the early years of WWII, just after Prime Minister Neveille Chamberlain signed the Munich Pact (September 30, 1938), sealing the fate of Czechoslovakia (the Sudetenland) essentially handing it over to Germany in an attempt to keep the peace in Europe. Given at the Court of Saint James, the Fourth day of October 1938, with effect as from 29th August, 1938. Also signed 'Halifax'. On verso, text in Bulgarian, with 2 signatures. 21 1/4 x 16 1/2", on watermarked vellum. Original folds flattened. Seller Inventory # 24455
