Add to basketThis important American graphic designer and stamp designer served as art director for "Mademoiselle" magazine (1945-60); he served on the faculty at Yale University for many years, designed "Monalphabet" and other "simplified alphabets," and influenced a whole generation of art directors. Signed FDC, 6½" X 3½", cancelled in New York, NY on 15 October 1964 and with "First Day of Issue" boldly stamped. Single 5-cent "American Music" stamp (designed by Thompson) at upper right. Fine. At lower left, Thompson signs large and bold in blue ink. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope, cancelled in Greenwich, CT on 23 August 1966 -- on the verso of which he boldly pens: "Best Wishes! / Bradbury Thompson / Jones Park, Riverside, Conn." Very good. Mild wear and folds. A superb example of a rather uncommon signature.
