Large quarto. Unpaginated. NUMBER 58 OF AN EDITION OF ONLY 100 SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. The author is the Curator of Collections at Hancock Shaker Village. Shaker "Gift Drawings," made between 1837 and the late 1860's, were charming drawings in color or black ink, accompanying the calligraphy of the artists' prayerful texts. This wonderful book shows 25 of them in color, accompanied by the text in print, and a brief biography of the "instrument" who drew them. They are reminiscent of Pennsylvania Dutch manuscripts and decoration. A fine copy in illustrated boards. Seller Inventory # 011123
