Item description from seller

Typed letter in Spanish, signed "A.H. Roffo." Oblong 8vo, 1 page, 5.75 x 9 inches, March 12, 1924, on his very scarce "Instituto De Medicina Experimental" letterhead, sending salutations to his friend and distinguished doctor Alejandra Zorillo of San Martin, promising to send a photograph soon. Vertical fold; minor tear at the top right-hand margin; small stain. Very good(-) condition. Groundbreaking Argentine cancer doctor who made numerous trips to Europe in the 1920s, where he met Marie Curie, with whom he discussed the utilization of radiotherapy. He founded the "Institute of Experimental Medicine for the treatment of Cancer" in 1922 and was the first scientist to demonstrate the link between tobacco tars and the production of cancerous tumors. By the end of the 1920s, he was certain that there was a link between smoking and cancer and wrote numerous papers on the subject in the 1930s.
