Item description from seller

[12], 74pp. With four mounted photographic vignettes. Titles and text within ornamental borders printed in gold. Section-titles for each of the four Reveries not included in pagination. Attractively bound by Riviere (stamp-signed to front turn-in) in publisher's gilt-tooled red morocco, lettered 'In Memoriam' to upper board, supralibros (Royal arms) to centre of lower board, A.E.G., gilt dentelles. A trifle rubbed. Later armorial bookplate of Robin de Beaumont to FEP, very occasional light spotting. Presentation copy, inked inscription to verso of front blank fly-leaf: 'To Mrs. Barbour / with the author's / kind regards / 3 sept / 1868 / Joseph Turnley'. 'It is not intended to publish this book, the circulation of which will be a few complementary copies to friends and certain distinguished persons, especially of that profession of which the Author is a very humble member'. Seemingly a variant setting, perhaps issued for presentation; other copies have different pagination and differing text to the final section, 'Visitation of Angels'. Size: Quarto.…

Store description

Established 2007, Antiquates Ltd is an Antiquarian bookseller with a large, custom built shop in the heart of the Dorset countryside. We sell fine and rare books from our Wareham shop, in catalogues, and via our website (www.antiquates.co.uk). Specialising in early printed books both English and Continental, fine English Literature, and books by, for, and about Women and Children, we nevertheless stock a wide range of works on paper from 1500-present - including modern first editions. Our bias is towards the unusual, the interesting and the important - and always have a good stock of rare books by local authors such as T.E. Lawrence and Thomas Hardy; we are just the place if you're looking for an extra-special gift for a wedding, birthday, anniversary or graduation. (Open Wednesday - Saturday, 10am-4pm)…
