"In our uncertain, ever-changing world, more and more Americans are seeking a moral compass to guide them. This encouraging and enlightening book provides us with the direction to achieve our goals and find true fulfillment while maintaining our personal freedom and integrity. In Rediscovering American Values, Dick DeVos, president of Amway, shows us how the values that make America great can be incorporated into our daily lives. These are the values that shape who we are, how we live, and how we treat one another. With plainspoken strength and proven wisdom, DeVos reveals how a return to these traditional values can provide the foundation upon which to build more menaingful, satisfying lives. Drawing on his experiences as the head of one of America's most successful businesses and on his abiding belief in the values that underlie the power and prosperity of America, DeVos describes the rich rewards we can earn through self-discipline and hard work. Using his own life as a step-by-step guide, he shares the invaluable lessons he has leaned on the road to success and happiness. The son of Amway co-founder Rich DeVos, he had to work his way up in the family business. He tackled challenges, earned responsibility, and developed the courage and confidence to grow as an individual and to make his own unique contribution to Amway, his community, and his country. DeVos explores 24 basic values -- from honesty and compassion to initiative and leadership -- demonstrating how they are the very foundation of our freedom. Including inspirational examples of everyday Americans who have applied these basic principles to their lives and work, Rediscovering American Values offers the guidance we need to carry us into the twenty-first century. It is essential reading for anyone who believes that the American Dream can still be ours." -- from the inner front and rear jacket flaps. Store description
Vero Beach Books is an antiquarian bookseller with a constantly updated inventory of rare out-of-print books, signed books, children's books, plus a large inventory of ephemeral items such as major U.S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. That said, we are here to serve you, to offer you fine quality items that are conservatively described so that you will always be pleasantly surprised and delighted with your purchase. Twenty-five years in the bookselling business has borne out our stellar service oriented reputation; the only difference is that now we are located in the almost always sunny and warm climate of Vero Beach, Florida. Again, we are here to serve you and, as was the case when we were previously known on ABEBooks.com as Emerson Books, we will continue to offer our very popular 100% free search service for those hard to find books rare and out of print books. Oftentimes we are also able to obtain these rare finds at very good discounts to our customers' so it is always worth contacting us in such cases!
