Original ink and watercolour, heightened in gold, on paper. 20cm x 25cm. Signed in full to the lower right hand corner. In fine, clean condition. A striking painting with a distinctive Glasgow feel. Below the image, in the artist's trademark stylised lettering, is the legend' "And being weary she sat down under a chestnut tree to rest." This image was drawn for the Oscar Wilde fairy story, 'The Star Child'. LITERATURE: A House of Pomegranates by Oscar Wilde (Methuen, 1915), opposite p.142.
