Green woven fabric cover in Fine condition with some fading of spine. Brown slipcase slight fading. Glassine cover torn in two, but still protects front and back not spine. 7" x 10 3/4". Gently read. Very tight. With an introduction by David Daiches. Illustrated with paintings by Wray Manning and signed by the artist on the rear colophon page. Copy #128 of a limited fifteen hundred. From the introduction, "It is the novel to which George Eliot was most emotionally committed and in which her personal voice sounds most urgently. The story of Maggie Tulliver, intelligent, imaginative, idealistic, ambitious, and turbulent, derives directly from the story of young Mary Anne Evans (which was George Eliot's real name); and the continuous conflict between Maggie and her environment, the continuous frustration of her demands for fulfillment and for love, is presented with such a sense of almost yearning identification because it derives so much from autobiography." We, at Coalesce Bookstore, thank our customers and supporters, acknowledging that what we do would not be possible were it not for each of you. Books over 2.2 lbs require additional shipping cost outside US, approximately $40USD ($25USD for Canada). …
