Add to basketx, 422 pages. 7 x 10 inches. Publisher's (?) green buckram. INSCRIBED by the author "To Sid. Without whom there would not have been a Middle Atmosphere Program, let alone a GLOBMET. Bob. 29/4/88" on the front flyleaf. A letter from Bob to Sid laid in as well. A sound clean copy. Cloth. Sid was Sidney A. Bowhill, a Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Lowell. From his obituary in the Lexington Middleman: "He earned bachelor and Ph.D degrees in Physics from Cambridge University, Cambridge, England. Worked at Marconi Telegraph and Telephone studying radio waves and antennae, immigrated to the United States in 1951 as an Associate Professor at Penn State. For 25 years he was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at University of Illinois, Urbana where he carried out pioneering research on the upper atmosphere including advances in the understanding of gravity waves. He retired to Massachusetts and became Chairman of the Electrical Engineering department at University of Massachusetts, Lowell. He advised over 30 Masters and Ph.D students." MAP stands for the Middle Atmosphere Program.
