Add to basketThe St. Andrew s Bay Railroad, Land, and Mining Co. was a Cincinnati, Ohio mail-order company that bought property in the Saint Andrew Bay area in Florida. The company then advertised small lots nationally, which attracted a large number of people who purchased the 300,000 lots for $1.25. As the price of the lots rose to $8, the company went bust. Many of the buyers liked the area and in 1908, St. Andrews incorporated as a town for the first time and grew to become a popular port in the early 1900s. In 1927, the town was annexed by Panama City. One such buyer was FREDERICK W. FOGLE, a former Zouave Soldier of the 76th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Offering his 8 1/2 x 17 Warranty Deed. Also included is a cover letter from W.B. Lassitter, Clerk of the circuit court of Washington County, Vernon, Florida, and the original cover addressed to Fogle. Lassitter has signed the Warranty Deed and the cover letter, written entirely in his hand. The 76th was organized in Harrisburg, PA, and fought in Virginia and the Carolinas. The 76th was engaged in the battles of Secessionville, Pocotaligo, Cold Harbor the Crater, Chaffin s Farm, Fair Oaks & Darbytown Road, Fort Fisher, Wilmington, Second Battle of Fort Wagner and Charleston Harbor, Deep Bottom, Fort Fisher. The deed and the cover letter are in excellent condition. The original cover, addressed to Fogle, is soiled. Everything we sell is guaranteed authentic forever to the original buyer.
