Inscribed First Edition, Second Printing of this memoir of the top State Department advisor to General Douglas MacArthur in Occupied Japan. Sebald was technically a political advisor with ambassador rank in the period. Sebald also served as American Ambassador to Australia and Burma. Inscribed by William Sebald to previous owners on the front endpaper. Red cloth, 318 pages, illustrated. Has tanning on the page edges. The bottom corner of the front flap of the dust jacket is clipped but price at top is intact. Also a bit of edge wear on dust jacket.
