W Hatch Engraver" and "W J. Coe Agent". Some slight wear and small holes along folds; 1 inch hole to last page, content not affected; good condition. This document details the placing of seals by Hatch and Coe on a package containing a plate of the Hudson River Bank, plate 5.5.5.10. It is signed by Hatch and Coe certifying that they placed the seals of Rawdon, Wright & Hatch and Wm. J. Coe. It is also signed and dated July 7, 1864 by the person who received it. On the backside of the letter is a circular stamp for New York, dated Jul. 6; it is addressed to an A. C. Hagg, whom I could not find any information on. George Whitefield Hatch (1805-1867) was an American lithographer, portraitist, and viewmaker based in New York. He studied engraving and painting under Asher Brown Durand, and afterward was active as an engraver in Albany, publishing works with James Smillie under the imprint "Hatch and Smillie". Hatch returned to New York in 1832 and became a partner at the banknote engraving firm of Rawdon, Wright & Hatch - the firm referenced in this document. Seller Inventory # 1222
