Inscription on the front free endpaper reads: Christmas 2006 with Love from Janet and Owen. The Owen W. And Janet K. Roberts Letters, in separate volumes, document the Roberts' time while serving in the Foreign Service in Cairo, the Congo, Ethiopia, Ouagadougou, Jerusalem and The Sinai, and Nigeria while Owen Roberts was a member of the Foreign Service. The papers consist of nearly two hundred original letters written between 1955 and 1957, describing the Roberts' life in Cairo. The Roberts summered for many years off the coast of Mount Desert Island, Maine.
