Fifth printing (per publisher's sequence upon copyright page; first published October 1934) SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. [8], 284 pages. Hardcover: H 20.25cm x L 13.75cm. Dust jacket with front panel and spine illustration by Julius John Lankes; dj rubbed and soiled with some abrasions; chipping and tears at edges; front flap retains publisher's printed price at bottom right. Red cloth; slight bumping/scuffing at spine ends and board corners. Black top edge. Toning to endpapers; personal sextant-themed bookplate of St. Louis physician, naval historian, and author E. Lee Dorsett (Edward Lee Dorsett, 1883-1967) on front pastedown; Taylor School card taped at ffep center with two-line ink inscription "Best regards | 'Joe' Taylor" along with author's ink signature "Robert P. Tristram Coffin" towards top of ffep; interior pages are otherwise clean. Binding is firm.
