When World War II broke out, he was tried by the Soviets for Zionist activity and sent to Russia, not to be heard of again. Throughout his life Fahn contributed to Hebrew periodicals, many of his articles and stories being around Karaite themes. The translation of the inscription is: From the Right to the Left, a gift to Beit Alfa from R. Fahn February 12, 1939" Kibbutz Beit Alfa was founded by members of Hashomer Hatzair, which was leftist.
