Item description from seller

JUAN PERON (1895-1974). Juan Domingo Peron served as the Argentinian President from 1946 until 1955, when he was overthrown. He then served again in 1973 until his death in 1974. His beliefs are widely known as Peronism, which emphasizes social justice, economic independence, and political sovereignty, and is still a major force in Argentinian politics today. He is arguably the most important and controversial Argentinian figure of the 20th century.TLS. 1pg. August 10, 1955. Buenos Aires, Argentina. A typed letter signed Juan Peron in Spanish to Dr. Nicolas P. Scatamacchia during his first presidency, expressing gratitude for the doctors service. The English translation reads, Dear friend: Having learned of the attitude with which you have responded to the humanitarian obligations imposed upon you by the honorable fulfillment of your professional duties, in the face of the error of those who have forgotten them; it is with great pleasure that I convey to you my profound gratitude on behalf of the people, in whose service the efforts and sacrifice of doctors who are aware of their high responsibility must always be placed. I also wish to offer my best wishes for your personal well-being and to offer you the assurance of my unwavering esteem, - A big hug. Juan Peron. This letter praises Dr. Scatamacchia for his resilient attitude towards his obligations as a doctor, showing how highly Peron regards doctors, especially ones loyal to their duties. This letter also includes the transmittal envelope with the Presidential stamp, as well as Peron's name embossed on the front. This letter is in very good condition.

Store description

Stuart Lutz Historic Documents, Inc. buys and sells historic letters, documents, manuscripts and archives. My specialties include Presidents, Revolutionary War and Civil War figures, Declaration of Independence Signers, famous authors, important business leaders, notable scientists, aviators, notable women and African-Americans, and other "household famous names." I also enjoy handling the letters and archives of ordinary people whose writings have extraordinary or unusual content, such as an eyewitness description of the Pearl Harbor attack. I am a member of all major trade organizations, including the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America (ABAA), the Professional Autograph Dealers Association (PADA), the Appraisers Association of America, the Manuscript Society and the Ephemera Society. I am located in South Orange, New Jersey, and I travel to many book and manuscript shows every year. I am one of the very few members of the Appraisers Association of America certified to appraise historic documents, manuscripts and letters. I am USPAP qualified to perform appraisals for estate, donation and insurance purposes; please contact me for a confidential discussion of your appraisal needs. I am an author myself, having published The Last Leaf: Voices of History's Last-Known Survivors (Prometheus Books, 2010) that contains 39 interviews with the last survivor of, or final eyewitness to, important historical events. Chapters include interviews with the last three Civil War widows, the final living pitcher to surrender a home run to Babe Ruth, Houdini's last stagehand, and the final American doughboy. Lastly, I can frequently be seen authenticating and appraising on the History Channel hit show Pawn Stars.
