About this Item
Hard-to-find booklet written by a member of the Tokyo Bureau of The New York Times who began working as a journalist in 1926. It essentially provides a history of foreign correspondents in Japan during the middle of the 20th century. Not dated, but probably written around 1980. Illustrated with several pages of vintage b/w photographs, timelines, etc. Measures 6" x 8" with 45 pages. Inscribed by the author to the prior owner on the first page. In excellent condition. Bonus item included: a hand-written letter from the author to the individual he inscribed the book to on the first page. Among other points, he writes in this letter that Mr. and Mrs. Abe Rosenthal (executive editor of The New York Times at that point) had traveled from New York to host his 50th anniversary party.
