Size of unfolded sheet of thick, laid, watermarked paper: 19" x 14 1/4"; when folded, making a document of 9 1/2" x 14 1/8"; large watermark features a crown form over a fleur-de-lis in a cartouche with monogram of + W R, underneath. 31 lines in English, in a fairly large & legible hand, with large initial K; signature & wax & paper seal of Richard Windsor on a cut paper flap, & 5 other signatures. Part of the red sealing wax wafer is chipped away underneath, but seal impress of a small heraldic crest is still well-preserved. Three vertical folds. Edges show slight tanning; back of document (second blank page) shows a tear to paper, dusting, minor tanning. Suitable for framing. Text of document: Know all men by these presents That I Richard Windsor of Stoke Pogis in the County of Berkshire Esqr. Have made ordained constituted and in my Stead and place by these presents Doe putt and appoint my well beloved in Christ John Arle (?) the elder and Henry Chilton the elder of Eaton in the County of Berkshire yeom my true and lawfull Attorney and Attorneys jointly and severally for mee and in my name to enter into and upon All that Barne Stable and Stable yard and one Acre of Land bee the same more or lesse commonly called or knowne by the name of the Barne yard or Close situate lyeing and being in Eaton aforesaid And into and upon all and singular the Messuages Lands Tenements and Things which in and by our Indenture of Bargaine Sale and ffeoin bearing date the day of the date of these presents made between mee the said Richard Windsor of the one part and George Goade of the parish of Eaton aforesaid Clarke of the other part are mentioned To bee thereby Graunted bargained sold aliened or feofed and confirmed Or into or upon some or any part or parts thereof in the name of the whole totale And after such possession and seizing of all and singular the presents aforesaid and of every or any part or parts thereof in the name of the whole to give and deliver to the said George Goade or unto his lawfull Attorney in that behalfe lawfully to bee authorized To and for His use and behafe of the said George Goade and of his heires and assignes for ever according to the purpose force effort and true meaning of the said Indenture ratifying allowing and confirming all and whatsoever my said Attornyes jointly or either of them severally shall doe in about or concerning the premisses or any part thereof In witness whereof I the said Richard Windsor have hereunto sett my hand and seale this ffirst Day of Aprill In the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe hundred Sixty and ffive And in the Seventeenth yeare of the raigne of our Sovraigne Lord, Charles the second by the grace of God of England Scotland ffraunce and Ireland Kinge defender of the faith./ Sealed and delivered in the presence of./ William Cole Gabr.
