Signed by screenwriter Steve Zaillian on title page in black fountain ink. Typescript format in flexible three-ring binder with plastic covers. Nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay, Martin Scorsese’s epic, long-gestating gangster film is less about the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa than it is the story of the arc of a man’s life over a twenty-year period (from the 1960s-1980s) and the costs to him of having been a mob assassin—one who regrets in old age that he is alone, his friends all dead, that he is alienated from his adult daughters, and that left with lingering regret over an assignment that forced him to choose between his two closest friends—with fatal results for one of them. Zaillian’s brilliant script, adapted from Charles Brandt’s ‘I Hear You Paint Houses,’ moves effortlessly back-and-forth through time and memory while always keeping the reader clearly located in the story. One available.
