Signed in pencil by Hermann Struck and hand-numbered 3/30 on title page, signed in pencil by Struck on all lithographs. Folio. (1) 17 plates, modern tissue guards. Quarter cloth over decorative boards portfolio. Contains seventeen signed original lithographs. The set is entitled "Honeymoon (Hochzeitsreise)" depicting views of the German river Elbe, of Munich roofs and the Frauenkirche, Bolzano, Merano (in blue), Trento, Lake Garda and Venice on variant papers. The lithographs are unevenly matted. One of thirty copies with each lithograph signed Struck in pencil. Struck received his training at the Berlin Academy of Arts but In 1899, after the completion of his studies, Struck was banned from teaching due to his Jewish heritage. He had met the Dutch artist Jozef Israels in 1900 who became his mentor, both of them recognized as leading artist in the field. In 1904 Struck joined the Berlin Secession. Known for his etchings and lithographs his 1908 "The Art of Etching" became a standard work in his time. He was commissioned to render portraits of Einstein, Herzl, Freud, Oscar Wild, among others, and became a teacher for artists like Marc Chagall, Max Liebermann, Lovis Corinth, and Lesser Ury. An Orthodox Jew Struck was also a committed Zionist and one of the founders of the Misrachi movement, a religious Zionist movement established in 1902 in Vilnius. Struck emigrated to Palestine in 1923 and continued to work there fro the rest of his life. Text in German. International First Class typically starts at $20. International Priority is typically $35 or less if under four pounds weight, and starts at $40 if over four pounds. International Express is a faster and more expensive option.
