Item description from seller

Quarto (7" x 10") bound in green buckram and printed by R. & R. Clark with a previously unpublished 6000-word preface by George Bernard Shaw. This edition is also bibliographically important in that it is the first time Dickens's original "unhappy" ending to this great novel was published. This is copy #473 of 1500 with 55 illustrations by Gordon Ross and SIGNED by the illustrator on the colophon page. We need never be ashamed of our tears. Spine slightly darkened with some rubbing, much nicer than usually found. Near Fine in an intact Very Good slipcase.
