Second edition, with supplementary notes; 8v0 (14.5 x 21.5 cms); xvi & 439 pages; with 3 folding maps (1 large and two smaller), and 70 illustrations in the text; hardback: original olive green cloth with gilt titles and crest to front covers, and gilt title to spine, top edges gilt; cloth a little discoloured, 7 cm tear to inner margin of main map (affecting printed area), but otherwise a very good, tight copy. This second edition was substantially expanded from the 1891 edition, adding some 108 pages to the original. Inscribed as a presentation to D.L. Hutchinson on leaving Wyggeston Grammar School, and signed by Mrs T. Fielding Johnson, dated July 30 1913.
