About this Item
12mo, 83pp. A very good copy with a large stain along the spine, affecting both the book and dust jacket. Book generally clean and sound, but the jacket showing the stain, thus good only. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Rockefeller on the half-title page: "To Margaretta with affectionate regards. Nelson A. Rockefeller." Curiously, Rockefeller's second wife (who served as Second Lady during the Ford administration, when Nelson was Vice President) was named Margaretta (though she went by "Happy"), as was her mother. An erased notation from a previous bookseller seems to read--very faintly, as it has been erased--"Presentation copy inscribed to mother-in-law." While the inscription strikes us as a little cool and formal to be familial, it's worth remembering that one can never be too cautious in addressing one's mother-in-law. Despite condition, a significant copy of this group of lectures by the 49th Governor of New York and perennial liberal Republican presidential contender. Seller Inventory # 11501
