Second Edition. SIGNED by the author on ffep. 8vo. xix, 552pp. Photo-illustrations; maps (one large fold-out). Blue cloth with gilt lettering in scarce double dustjackets (cream illustrated with crest and lettering; plain brown paper). Near fine (small rubbing to upper corner of ffep; decorative bookplate for the Stuart Library of Western Americana & small inked numbers to copyright page) in very good printed dustjacket (some darkening to spine; small loss to upper rear edge and lower front; light wear & short closed tears to extremities). Translated from the original Spanish Manuscript of Father Pedro Font's Complete Diary (he wrote an official record in the Short Diary) covering the entire second Anza expedition from Horcasitas and back. "First published as Volume IV in Bolton, 'Anza's California Expeditions,' of which this volume is a reprint." - Rocq 9398.
