1st Edition/1st printing Thus. (reprint of 1950 edition) SIGNED and inscribed by author on bookplate on front end page: "For Dan Montemarano from Shelby Foote, Memphis, 22 Feb. 82". Remainder mark. 1 1/2" seperation at rear bottom pastdown-spine area. Tight clean copy. Laid-in is original author hand-addressed return envelope, postmarked from Memphis in February 1982, that bookplate was sent in. Also includes laid-in a photocopy of handwritten signed thank you letter from Foote mentioning 'Sept. Sept.' dated 1980. Also includes laid-in the original author obituaries fron New York Times and Time Magazine. Author's second novel. Scarce signature. Seller Inventory # 004042
