Second impression. 303 pages + 56-page publisher's catalogue dated Autumn 1936. Author's copy, inscribed to the front endpaper: "Margery Lawrence Published 1936. Twelfth book published (short stories)". The book is bound in hard-wearing dark blue cloth with matching blue top-stain to the text block and a brown faux leather spine label, lettered and decorated in gilt. The binding is firm, the cloth is lightly rubbed and marked, the spine a little faded. The text block is slightly foxed, marked and age toned. Lawrence's third collection of weird and supernatural tales, slightly less macabre than her earlier collections and showing the increasing influence of her interest in spiritualism.
