Author Inscription reads " This book has been awarded to Mr. Benjamin F. Laher as First Prize Best Speech to Get Action. Class 410. Congratulations Mr. Laher" Direct Tie to the Dale Carnegie Course: One of Carnegie’s signature exercises in his courses was teaching participants how to grab an audience's interest immediately ("get attention"). Books awarded as class trophies or speech contest prizes directly link the artifact to his teaching method. Contemporary Date: Given the March 1937 date, this award was handed out right in the afterglow of How to Win Friends and Influence People hitting nationwide bestseller lists, capturing Carnegie actively teaching his speaking curriculum during his most historic era.

Store description
Welcome to my collection. I'm an older gentleman who's spent decades living among the sun-baked landscapes of the Southwest, and even more time seeking out the ghosts of literature. This isn't your typical, brightly lit chain store; it's a carefully curated selection born from a lifetime of collecting. My passion lies in finding books that are old, hard to find, and truly unique. Think first editions that pre-date ISBNs, obscure regional histories from dusty western towns, beautiful leather-bound classics, and scholarly works long out of print. If a book has a story to tell beyond its pages—a beautiful inscription, a unique provenance, or a cover worn smooth by time—it's likely found a temporary home here. Each listing you see is for a book that has passed through my hands, been inspected by my eyes, and personally described by me. I treat these books with the respect they deserve and strive to provide you with an honest and detailed assessment of their condition. Whether you're looking for a specific gap in your library or simply hunting for that rare piece of history you didn't know existed, I'm here to help you connect with your next literary treasure.…
