external hinges taped twice, several pages of advertisements loose at front and back, edges of covers frayed, back hinge sprung: All in all, however, a remarkable copy of this last edition (the 13th!) of the Edwards Directory (or "Director", as he preferred to call it) before the Great Chicago Fire (A year later, Edwards published a smaller city directory of those firms "whose locations can be ascertained". Inscribed "With the compliments of Richard Edwards"; aside from the flaws mentioned, an incredibly good copy of a city directory this large and this old.
