The following material was sent by U. S. Mail in Oct. 1969 (postage was 6 cents) to "Jon Essex, Public Relations, Fisher Theatre, Grand Block (?) Detroit, Mich." The envelope is torn, shows a crease mark, and has dusting, but is in the hand of Horton. (1) A brochure measuring about 9 ¼ in. x 4 in. with material on the 1969 movie "Cold Turkey," starring Dick Van Dyke, Tom Poston, Pippa Scott, et al. The brochure is folded in such a way as to make it 8 pp. On the first page, Horton has written on the left margin: "Edward Everett. Sept. 9 69." At the top, he has written to Jon Essex: "Dear Jon: this is very interesting. Keep it if you wish. I'll get another for Ed." When opened, the brochure's four interior pages show two views (late 19th century and 1969) of the Courthouse in Greenfield, Iowa, the location at which some of the film was shot. Horton has made notes, under-linings, and exclamation points in the printed material of the brochure. (2) and (3) Also sent to Essex were two newspaper articles from the Des Moines area about the scenes used in the film. The articles show their age and each is folded a number of times.
