Oversized hardcover in charcoal gray cloth lettered in gilt. Fine; issued without dust jacket. 190 pp. with index. Illustrated with two color plates and 120 black and white illustrations of complete tools as well as details such as makers marks and with reproductions of vintage advertisments. An invaluable reference work on hand tools and some machine tools and their makers from the deacdes prior to 1900. Includes fully illustrated chapters on saws, planes, spirit levels, rules, gayges, hammers, spokeshaves, carpenters' tools, woodworking machines, tools made by blacksmiths, axes, etc.
