The newly added descriptive texts include, wherever possible, the results of research into the lives and working methods of the carvers represented. Each rubbing is complemented by a photograph taken on the site, so that the individual sculpture is presented in detail and in full. In preparing this volume, the rubbings have been a collaboration between the two authors; the photographs were the work of Ann Parker; the text was written by Avon Neal."
