Follows the story of the author and his Father, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, as they try and figure out if the bat Kevin found on the wall of his parent's house was the bat used by Roberto Clemente for his 3000th and final hit. The Guilfoile family have been entrenched in baseball for generations, with Bill Guilfoile, Kevin's dad, being the head of publicity for the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 70s (during the time of Clement's 3000 hit through the "We are family Pirates" of 1979, then heading the PR department for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, and Kevin who lived in Cooperstown through high school, and is now a succesful fiction, and baseball author.
