Second Printing. Octavo (21cm); grey cloth, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; dustjacket; xvi,204,[4]pp. Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper: "To the Johnsons / with warmest regards / Merrill Proudfoot." Light wear to extremities, some fading to spine ends, internally clean; Very Good+ to Near Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced $5.00), edgeworn, with a chip at upper spine panel costing a few letters in the author's name, and a few tiny nicks, tears, and attendant creases; Very Good. First-hand, day-by-day observations on the 1960 lunch-counter desegregation demonstrations in Knoxville, Tennessee. Proudfoot was a white Presbyterian clergyman on the faculty of the predominantly black Knoxville College, and became one of the leaders of the movement; the book is arranged chronologically and based upon his daily diary entries. Includes a foreword by former North Carolina Senator Frank P. Graham. 82523.
