3 3/8 inches x 5 1/8 in., woodcut design printed on a very thin tissue (proof) type paper; Ex Libris Rudolf Moser Biel. Inscribed and signed in pencil on the lower margin: Herr Rentschler zur seignet [?] Os. Weber. The paper shows age-related tanning, tan spotting. From the personal collection of Swiss-born artist and designer, Fred Rentschler, who emigrated to America in the early 1920's, and later taught at the Cleveland [Ohio] School of Art. His collection contained examples of proofs & finished pieces of bookplates, new year's greetings, book illustrations, title-page designs, initial letters, etc. mainly produced by Swiss artists & designers, ca. 1917-22, including a few of his Swiss bookplate designs.
