5 3/8 inches x 7 7/8 in., etched design printed on a sheet of tan paper. Zum Neujahr 1920 Rudolf Benz Zurich. Signed in pencil in the lower right margin: Benz. From the personal collection of fellow Swiss-born artist and designer, Fred Rentschler, who emigrated to America in the early 1920's, and later taught at the Cleveland [Ohio] School of Art. His collection contained examples of proofs & finished pieces of bookplates, new year's greetings, book illustrations, title-page designs, initial letters, etc. mainly produced by Swiss artists & designers, ca. 1917-22, including a few of his Swiss bookplate designs.
