This copy is inscribed by the poet on the front endpaper: "Inscribed for dear / Lucille Sessions, and in memory / of dear Blue, / with the love of their friend / (signed) Archibald Rutledge / Hampton / 19 March, 1961." Small name and address label to top left of front pastedown. Rutledge (1883-1973) was the first South Carolina poet laureate from 1934-1973. His poems often described his hunting and life experiences growing up on Hampton Plantation and the trips home to South Carolina in summer and for holidays. 635 pages.
