The first edition in book format of the legendary reference work to Jess Miller's famous Dunkeld Collection of Hardy Reels, originally responsible in 1987 for taking the collecting of vintage fishing tackle to a higher level, contains a brand new section on Hardy Lures as well as 2004 Price Guides to more than 240 Hardy Reels and Lures. All 172 Hardy reels, including some of the rarest ever made, are shown in full colour with many displaying their Check mechanisms to help with identification and dating. The importance of the information for the tackle collector, tackle owner or auctioneer/valuer as to date of manufacture, rarity, condition and price cannot be overstated. All information in the book, with its Foreword by James Booth of Sotheby's Guns & Fishing Tackle department (1987), has been revised and updated. Jess assists the novice as well as the expert collector with knowledge of the rarity or otherwise of individual reels within Hardy's production, dating from the patent of Hardy's Perfect fly reel in 1891 right up to the 1960's.

Each reel is described in the fullest detail as to size, check mechanism, date of manufacture, salient construction points and rarity and each section on a particular reel model is headed by information concerning its production history. The new section on some 70 Hardy Lures and information as to their sales/manufacture date, size and colour ranges as well as value, the first such study ever undertaken, is particularly important.
