Phil Neale was one of the few to combine two sporting careers, others being Denis Compton, Arthur Milton and Willie Watson. In winter he played football for Lincoln City, winning two promotion medals, while in the summer he made runs for Worcestershire. He also picked up a Russian degree from Leeds University.
