A Good to Very Good Book Missing its Issued Dust Jacket. Signed by Julia Child to Half-Title Page, Dated 1953 in Marseille. Book is rubbed, bumped and to extremities. Spine is faded and boards have some soiling. Text block is a bit toned and dust soiled. Text has a few instances of pencil notation in Paul Child's hand, a few leaves have been dog-eared. Binding is square and mostly tight but spine cloth has been pulled at crown. The relationship formed between Paul and Julia Child & Avis and Bernard DeVoto was of an importance so profound it is hard to overstate. Julia and Bernard became acquainted when Julia wrote him a letter regarding an article he wrote in his Easy Chair column on a quality, inexpensive kitchen knife. Their friendship blossomed and Bernard was instrumental in helping Julia get Mastering the Art of French Cooking published.
