No date (published 1918). Inscribed, but not signed, by the author on the ffep. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering on front. Light rubbing wear to extremities. A few pages show minor soiling; some foxing. 81 pp. 6.5 x 4.25 inches. Six copies noted on OCLC. Title pages states "For Sale by the Author / Price $1.00". A study of the question, Is death the end of probation? That is, will there be an opportunity for repentance after death through the sanctifying influences of the Holy Ghost? The author examines the doctrine of free will in this context and then surveys the positions of various Protestant denominations (including Pre-Millennarians) and the Catholic church. He draws on scriptures, Augustine, Bishop D'Arcy (Church of Ireland), and others. Rev. William Ridgely Powell (1838-1919) was an Episcopal minister in Portland, Oregon. In 1890 he was made assistant rector of Trinity Episcopal Church and later served as a chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital.
