Fine large oblong black chalk lithograph on stronger paper, showing Bavarian horse artillery moving into battle, signed below in the plate "DM 1832"; at bottom lettered "Der Kunstverein in München seinen Mitgliedern 1832"; "Gemalt von D. Monten"; "Gedr. unter der Leitung von W. Flachenecker und Fr. Hohe"; "Auf Stein gez. v. Fr. Hohe". 37,5 x 55,2 cm.*Nagler, Monogrammisten II, No. 1226, p. 481. Der Kunstverein in München (the Munich art society) selected each year four of the by them purchased paintings to be lithographed as a present for their members. Dietrich Monten was a famous painter of battle scenes with horses, active at the Bavarian court. Friedrich Hohe was a very skilled lithographer and painter. - A few brown spots and light soiling in blank margins. Below with "Kunstverein in München" blindstamp (not in Lugt).[(5941)].
