Robinson (1878-1949), born May 25, 1878, Richmond, Virginia; died November 25, 1949, New York City; African American actor and dancing star in vaudeville, on the musical stage and in films; considered one of the world's foremost tap dancers; best known for his lead role opposite singer Lena Horne in "Stormy Weather" 1943, as well as his four appearances with child actress Shirley Temple, "The Little Colonel" 1935; "The Littlest Rebel" 1935; "Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm" 1938; and "Just Around the Corner" 1938.
