("Erich W. Korngold") in black fountain ink on his Professor Erich Wolfgang Korngold, 9936 Toluca Lake, North Hollywood, Calif. letterhead, June 28, 1935. 7 1/4" x 10 1/2", 1 page (recto only). Very good (minor signs of handling; heavy traces of previous mounting on verso). Text in German and not translated. To Willes (?) Erich Wolfgang Korngold (1897-1957). Austrian born composer, was a child prodigy who, before the reached 10 years, was called a "musical genius" by Gustave Mahler. His ballet "Der Schneemann', which he wrote when he was 11, was much lauded with it was played at the Vienna Court Opera in 1910. Enjoyed great success as one of the most respected and in-demand film composers of the 1930s and 1940s. Nominated for a total of four Academy Awards, Korngold won two, for "Anthony Adverse" 1936 and "The Adventures of Robin Hood" 1938, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Original Score, and which is considered one of the greatest scores of all times.
