Il est question au chapitre IV, aux pages 117-137, de l'engagement de Cochin en faveur de l'abolition de l'esclavage : " Un autre mal, un fléau plus triste encore que la misère, car il dégrade la victime et déshonore l'humanité, l'esclavage, éveilla de bonne heure aussi le zèle de M. Cochin. [.] À ceux qui ne voient, qui ne comprennent, qui ne suivent que l'intérêt, c'est le langage de l'intérêt qu'il faut faire entendre. Aussi M. Cochin entreprend de démontrer que l'esclavage, loin d'être une source de richesses, est une cause de ruine, que loin d'être nécessaire à la culture, il en multiplie les difficultés, diminue la population et restreint le commerce, tue les noirs, corrompt les blancs, et, pernicieux aux deux races, fait peser sur toutes les deux un joug également funeste. " (p. 117-118). Après avoir démontré par des études approfondies que les conséquences de l'esclavage sont finalement très désavantageuses à tous points de vue, Cochin s'applique à démontrer que l'émancipation serait l'oeuvre du christianisme : " Qui a préparé cette joie à la terre ? C'est le christianisme. Avant lui, les politiques regardent l'esclavage comme nécessaire, les philosophes, comme juste, les économistes, comme utile ; seuls parmi les peuples anciens, les Hébreux ne font que le tolérer, en lui imposant des limites et en l'entourant de précautions. Mais le jour où le Christ rendit aux humbles leur dignité, ouvrit à tous les mêmes espérances, inspira au genre humain la charité, et proclama l'égalité de tous les hommes sous la main d'un Dieu créateur, ce jour-là l'esclavage fut atteint dans son effet, qui est le mépris du travail, condamné dans sa cause, qui est la force, dans son principe, qui est l'inégalité. [.] C'est aux esclaves qu'elle s'adressa d'abord. C'est par eux qu'elle commença cette étonnante transformation de la société romaine qui se termina par la ruine du paganisme. " (p. 131-132). Statutory Right to cancel
You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the the last good or the last lot or piece.

You may use the attached model cancellation form, but it is not obligatory. You can also electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel with contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
