About this Item
Painted by Gilbert Stuart. Privately printed in NY in 1900, limited to 200 copies. Signed by Theo L. De Vinne. Hard cover, no dust jacket (DJ). See photos for condition. Hard cover boards corners tightly curled in with fabric fraying. Fabric on boards has dark smudging. Crease lines in fabric by corners. Ripping and fraying in fabric at top/bottom of spine. Spine is toned and fabric is bubbled, plate on top of spine rubbed off almost entirely (just a tiny fragment remaining). Bit of bumping on edges. Pencil on ffep. Page edges very roughly cut - quite uneven across text block. Some widening in the gutters on first title page - webbing visible near top of gutter where crack is forming, but still held together. More mild widening elsewhere where binding thread is visible. Some toning opposite tissue pages. A few pages have minor splotch or dot blemishes. Pages lightly toned around edges. On page 10, there's a thin piece up paper protruding from the gutter, bound into the book - I'm not sure if there was supposed to be something attached to it, but there doesn't seem to be any signs of ripping along the edge. Pages appear clean and clear of highlighting, writing, markings, underlining. Seller Inventory # ABE-1724879579333
