Size: A4. An interesting letter regarding a book project, probably 'Ronald Searle: With an Introduction by Henning Bock and an Essay by Pierre Dehaye' published by Andre Deutsch in 1978. Sent from France, it begins 'Dear Nick, Happy 1978!' It refers to his relief at receiving a telegram from the artist and cartoonist George Heepe (George Him) stating that the book was definitely 'on' and that 'this has been going on since 1975' and his pleasure that 'A Deutsch Ltd and W. H. Smith managed to sort out a deal that puts it around in English'. Written from his home in France he remarks that it would have been 'terribly tempting to get me to budge from here. I haven't travelled for a book yet, & I resist madly all efforts to persuade me! I feel I've done my part in getting the thing together at all - without being penalised in public for it. So it is VERY unlikely. Best to Andre (possibly Deutsch) when next you speak to him, Yours ever, Ronald'. Verso blank. Old fold lines and very slight creasing but in very good condition indeed. Searle letters are increasingly scarce, especially to his friends. BOOK ROOM: Sleeve: L002.…

Terms of sale
Hornseys’ gallery is a constantly evolving space. Following a refurbishment in 2005, it continues to grow. In 2008 we took over ‘The Shop at Newby Hall’ and it has become widely regarded as one of the most innovative stately home shops in the country with a completely fresh outlook on the role of ‘gift’ shops of this nature.
In our gallery we work with a small number of artists who are predominantly painters and original printmakers. We source rare and out-of-print books, maps and engravings, offering these alongside our ranges of new titles.
Our range of other products is eclectic, from the finest of British-made textiles, fabrics, homewares, lighting, fashion, jewellery and accessories, Japanese, Italian and British-designed stationery, toys from Germany and Japan and many other globally-sourced items.
We are always interested in acquiring new and unusual products. Please contact us if you feel that you may have something of interest.
