Signed first editions of the first three books in the popular series, featuring the 12-year-old criminal mastermind who battles fairie folk. Eoin Colfer called analogies between his work and J.K. Rowling's "like comparing an apple and an orange." It's hard to imagine Rowling's titular hero holding fairies for ransom, negotiating with a Russian crime syndicate, or pulling off a heist in Chicago, as Colfer's does in these first three appearances. For better or worse, however, the comparison bore out: ARTEMIS FOWL and its sequels have sold over 20 million copies, beat CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY as readers' favorite Puffin Book of all time, and led to Colfer's selection by Douglas Adams' estate to complete the HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE series. 8.25'' x 5.25''. Original black cloth boards stamped in gold, silver, and red, respectively. Original unclipped (£12.99) holographic pictorial dust jackets. [8], 280; xii, 292; [14], 330, [8] pages. Each signed by Colfer in ink on title page. ARCTIC INCIDENT with promotional bookmark laid in. Books and jackets with trace shelfwear, light marginal toning to text blocks; ARTEMIS FOWL with bit of soil to fore-edge of front board. Bright and crisp. Near fine in near fine dust jackets.…
