A bright and fine folio size volume in pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated with more than 80 full-color pieces of art from one of the finest artists in the aviation art world. Laid in is the publisher's card and a print of an original pencil sketch, Escort to Wau. What makes this book quite special and historically significant are the signatures on the double page painting of the Enola Gay. The Enola Gay, a B-29 Superfortress, dropped the world's first atomic bomb ever used in combat on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The Enola Gay was named after the mother of the pilot, Paul Tibbets. This copy has been SIGNED BY FOUR MEMBERS OF THE ENOLA GAY: General Paul W. Tibbets, Pilot; Major Theodore "Dutch" Van Kirk, Navigator; Tom Ferebee, Bombadier; and Dick Nelson, Operator. Quite possibly one of only a few copies thus signed. A bright and fine copy in dust jacket. [also see our listing for "Flight of the Enola Gay" signed by pilot Paul W. Tibbets] Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall.
