Appoints Charles Louis St. John (1831-1897) to this post, on February 11th, 1893. An unusually large document with wide margins, measuring 18-7/8" (height) x 19" (width). Signed boldly by 23rd US president and countersigned by Secretary of State John W. Foster. The government seal is intact. Folded with five vertical and one horizontal crease; the "j" of Benjamin is touched by one crease. Americana. An attractive document, suitable for framing.
