About this Item

This real photo calendar, consisting of a composite of a real photo of the USAT Thomas heading to San Francisco from the Philippine Islands in October 1922 and an illustrated calendar of the months of October & November 1922 and printed on photographic paper (sort of a large real photo postcard), was the work of the 6th Photo Section of the Fourth Group Composite Air Service. The illustration is signed John F. Haberlin. Caption under the ship photo reads: "General Wright Homeward Bound U.S.A.T. Thomas". Ship photo is 2 1/2" x 3 1/4"; overall 8 3/4" x 6 1/4". The Fourth Composite Group was stationed at Camp Nichols, Rizal, Philippine Islands starting in 1919. The 6Th Photo Section was stationed there from March 1920 on. The Group was the primary command and control organization for all Army Air Corps units in the Philippines until November 1941. Condition: Short crease in right side blank margin, top corners creased, otherwise very good.
